How Do I Apply For The Ontario Real Estate Salesperson Program at Humber College?

What You Need To Know: Program registration opened July 4, 2019 but courses won't start until late August/early September. To start the registration process you'll need to provide a secondary school diploma (or equivalent), or you can take an admissions exam. Register for notifications, and we'll send you updates as soon as they're available.

If you’re just starting to research the Ontario real estate courses, you have likely realized there’s a bit of a gap! Before April 30, 2019, all prospective Ontario real estate salespeople and brokers completed their registration education through OREA (the Ontario Real Estate Association). OREA is no longer accepting registrations as the OREA College will be closing in December 2020.

All new students applying to become real estate salespeople in Ontario will now complete a new program through Humber College. Registration for the new program opened July 4, 2019. The new program won’t follow a traditional college semestered timeline. Once the courses begin (estimated September 2019), the program will run throughout the year and you can get started at any time.

To apply for the program, you’ll need to provide a Canadian secondary school diploma, GED certificate, or an acceptable equivalent credential. Here’s the summary of equivalent credentials (source: Humber College):

  • Secondary school diploma from the United States
  • Transcript, diploma or certificate (from a country other than Canada or the United States) previously assessed at an Ontario Secondary School Diploma level by a recognized assessment service, such as World Education Services (WES)
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree from Canada or the United States
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree (from a country other than Canada or the United States) assessed as equivalent to a Canadian post-secondary diploma or degree by a recognized assessment service, such as World Education Services (WES)
  • Certificate of completion for an Ontario academic upgrading program that is accepted by an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology for entry into an Ontario post-secondary program (Ontario Basic Skills Level IV, Basic Training and Skills Development Level IV)
  • Certificate of completion of an academic upgrading program from another Canadian jurisdiction that is accepted by an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology for entry into an Ontario post-secondary program
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Certificate of Qualification in any trade from Ontario or other Canadian jurisdiction

We’re staying on top of the new program updates so you don’t have to! Read our earlier blog post for a summary of the new program. To stay updated, register for program notifications.

I only have 2 courses left with OREA and have had a serious medical setback with my husband. Will I be able to finish my courses at Humber if I don’t make the Dec deadline with OREA

Hi Colleen, Your best point of contact in this situation is OREA — give them a call at (866)-411-6732 and they can help guide you further!
