Humber Polytechnic

Background:
Humber College served as the sole provider of RECO-approved real estate education in Ontario from 2019 to 2025, delivering the REBBA-based program in partnership with NIIT. That program officially ended on September 30, 2025, with Humber transitioning to the new TRESA-aligned program on October 1st.

Unlike the other three colleges, which launched their programs from a clean slate, Humber was responsible for transitioning its existing students to a new learning platform and onboarding with the new exam provider (Meazure Learning). The transition was anything but smooth. Many students encountered repeated technical issues, extended response times, and lack of communication that pointed to broader lapses in operational readiness and support. The rollout left a substantial number of learners frustrated and uncertain during the critical early weeks of the new program.

Things To Know:

  • Was the sole provider of RECO-approved education from 2019–2025.
  • Established procedures, instructors and student support.
  • Support options include phone, chat (account admin and general inquiries only) and email. Content support is by phone, Monday to Saturday, 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
  • Some students have complained about course content, customer service, support channels (content-related and technical assistance) and exam proctoring. Note: Course content is RECO’s responsibility and has been updated. Exams will be proctored by a new independent provider (Meazure Learning). So, some of these issues may have been eliminated or, at the very least, improved. Humber learners report positive experiences with Simulation Session facilitators.

Best For:
Existing Humber learners, those in the GTA who prefer in-person Simulation sessions (available at Humber’s Real Estate Education facility in Etobicoke).

Algonquin College

What Stands Out So Far:
Algonquin has a well-organized portal, detailed FAQs and multiple support channels available. Support responses are quick and informative. Algonquin holds weekly live online sessions with a facilitator and offers a moderated online discussion group at no extra cost. Learner feedback reflects a well-structured platform and reliable student support.

Things To Know:

  • Clean, accessible interface
  • Current contact options include email, chat and phone (8:30am – 4:30pm weekdays)
  • Great accessibility to the course facilitator(s) through the weekly sessions and online discussion groups.
  • This program is new to Algonquin College’s Corporate Training department, so reviews reflect other current programs in that department

Best For:
Students who want a fresh experience with great support and plan to direct their own learning pace, and those in the Ottawa area who prefer in-person Simulation sessions (locations and availability have not been announced).

Fleming College

Unique Value:
Fleming is positioning themselves as a student-first, service-driven alternative with an emphasis on personalized support and a commitment to quality and consistency in delivery. While all four colleges deliver the same core RECO course materials, Fleming distinguishes itself through what it calls a “white glove” approach to student service—prioritizing proactive service, real-time support and a focus on doing things differently.

Things to Know:

  • Same program structure as other providers, with the potential for an optional rural SIM session in the future.
  • Offers a qualified mix of experienced facilitators with both rural and urban real estate expertise.
  • Plans to introduce in-person SIM sessions (when demand allows).
  • Lower application fee than other providers ($75 vs $125).
  • Real-time support available by phone, email and live chat, including direct access to RECO-registered, subject matter experts for course content questions.
  • This program is new to Fleming College, so reviews are based on the entire college experience.

Best For:
Learners who want accessible, personalized support and fast answers from real people—whether they’re in the GTA or a small town. Fleming is a strong choice for students who prefer structured guidance, active communication and a more supported experience than the typical self-directed model. Also ideal for those in the Peterborough area, where in-person SIM sessions may become available.

Career College Group

Unique Value:
This provider offers the Real Estate Salesperson Program in a self-paced or structured cohort format, meaning you start with a group of learners on a set start date and move through the program together.

Things to Know About the Cohort Option:

  • Self-directed learning complemented by bi-weekly or weekly live, online instructor-led sessions (for all other providers instructor-led review sessions are optional paid add-ons for Courses 2, 3 and 4)
  • Entire salesperson program runs for 40–50 weeks, depending on the schedule selected
  • Suitable for learners who want routine and enjoy learning via Zoom-type sessions
  • Higher minimum base cost (~$645+ more due to online instructor-led sessions)
  • Less flexibility—may not suit learners who want to move faster (or slower)
  • May introduce scheduling and pace issues, especially if some learners fall out of sync due to vacations, illness, exam re-writes, etc.

Things to Know About This Provider:

  • Learners that start the program in the self-paced format have the option to upgrade to the cohort model.
  • Current contact options include phone, chat and email.
  • This program is new to Career College Group, so reviews are based on other program offerings.

Best For:
Learners who benefit from structure and a set timeline—especially those who prefer regular instructor interaction and scheduled learning touchpoints. The cohort option is a good fit for learners who appreciate guided pacing and a classroom-style rhythm, while the self-paced option offers flexibility with the ability to transition into a cohort later if more support is needed.

Key Takeaways

  • All four providers offer the same TRESA-aligned core RECO curriculum
  • Exam registration is standardized through Meazure Learning for all providers
  • Fees per course and exam are the same, with minor differences in application fees and Career College Group offering a structured cohort model.
  • The biggest differences come down to learning style, structure and extras

  1. Michael

How long before PassIt publishes the version for Algonquin? Is there much of a difference or can I just use the Humber version if the Algonquin version is not available?

    • Passit Admin

Hi Michael, Passit Guides for Algonquin are currently in development, with availability estimated within the next two weeks. The Humber guides currently available are based on different legislation (REBBA, not TRESA), so you will not want to use those to prepare for your Algonquin exam as the legislation (and associated rules, procedures, etc.) has significantly changed. Humber learners will be transitioning to RECO’s TRESA-based program after October 1st, 2025. You can sign up here to receive an email notification as soon as study guides are available for Algonquin College real estate courses.
